Privacy Policy — SmaRTL

SmaRTL ("the extension") is a browser extension that sets text direction (right-to-left / left-to-right) for bidirectional text on websites.

What we collect

Nothing. The extension does not collect, store off your device, transmit, sell, or share any personal or sensitive user data. It makes no network requests of any kind.

What stays on your device

• Your settings (on/off, direction mode, composer/toolbar preferences, and the list of sites you choose to enable) are saved with Chrome's storage API. They live only in your browser profile (and sync across your own signed-in Chrome instances if you use Chrome Sync). They are never sent to us or any third party.
• Direction detection runs entirely on your device — using Chrome's built-in on-device AI when available, otherwise a local heuristic. Page text is read only in memory to decide a paragraph's direction and is never stored or transmitted.

Permissions

• storage — save your settings locally.
• activeTab + scripting — apply text direction to the current tab when you invoke the extension.
• Host access to claude.ai and sites you explicitly allowlist — read page text in memory to set its direction. Nothing is collected or sent.

Limited Use

The extension's use of information complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not transfer or use user data for purposes unrelated to the extension's single purpose, and we do not sell user data.

Any changes to this policy will be reflected here with an updated date.
